Copywriting – my experience and skills
I’m a copywriter with over 20 years’ experience, originally working as a sub-editor on magazines such as Vogue and TV guides such as The Sun TV Guide, and more recently writing marketing material for clients such as London Sinfonietta, Public Interest News Foundation, IMEX and VisitBrighton (in conjunction with Harrison Agency).
Every client has their own story to tell, and their own distinct voice to tell it in. Part of my job is to find that story and develop that voice.
I believe writing with the right balance of warmth, authenticity, confidence and humility is the best way to engage an audience – regardless of industry. To connect with people, you need to be bold and write from the heart. Stepping away from what some might consider a more “professional” sounding tone can take a leap of faith, but trust me, it can work wonders…
What I do:
Copywriting
Writing content for brochures, websites, ads and marketing campaigns, along with eye-catching headlines, straplines, captions and subject headings.
Editing
Updating and strengthening existing material, from a light refresh to a complete makeover.
Tone of voice
Uncovering a client’s personality, experience and ethos, and using those ingredients to grab their audience’s attention and make the right impression.
Proofreading
Making sure final copy is clean and as error-free as humanly possible.
